Medusa:

In Greek mythology, Medusa, or Gorgo, was the preeminent Mermaid. Medusa dared to compare her beauty with Athena’s, to find her superior, and Athena changed her hair into snakes.

Her head was used as a deterrent symbol on the cornices of temples and houses, but also as decoration on armor, weapons, and various objects. The mesmerizing look, the beauty and the awe caused by her power, are the core of her legend
